In palmistry, the head line (running across hand from thumb joint, in between the heart and the life line) represents a person's thought processes and the quality of their mental energy.
For example, the head line may indicate whether a person has a rational/logical or creative/intuitive approach to life, or whether they make quick decisions or like to take time ponder and reflect. If the head line is islanded or chained the person's thinking can be clouded, or there can be a lack of confidence or insecurity for a period of time. Things to consider:
Long - Reasoning powers, ability to process abstract ideas,
philosophical, (scientist, writer, researcher).
Short - Faster decisions (boxer, fighter pilot, stock market trader), acts then thinks.
Straight - Rational, logical (mathematician, academic).
Curved downwards (see right) - creative, imaginative, sees world in a symbolic way, but more prone to moods, fleeting melancholy or depression. Commonly found on people working in the creative industries, but also people from other walks of life who may not classify themselves as exclusively creative (e.g. a full-time mother who enjoys flower arranging, a landscape gardener who dislikes art).
A curved head line that droops into the Luna mount indicates someone who is at home in the world of intuition, dreams, archetypes, colour, imagination and may have creative talent or at least 'a good eye'.
As with all aspects of palm reading, individual markings must be read in the context of the whole hand and any 'balancing' features taken into account.
