I was interested to read the palms of The Apprentice winner Tom Pellereau, 32, when I met him and the other finalists last week. A ring on his little finger shows a knack for money-making yet he will feel restrained in his career until 34 years due to an island on the fate line. His time with Sir Alan Sugar will be important for honing his craft but at 34 he will experience a transformation of fortunes when restrictions are removed and the fate line branches. From memory, he also has a peacock's eye on his left ring finger: a sure sign of an innovator and someone destined to become an expert in his field. His sensitivity will be a plus when working with others.
The runners up:
Jim Eastwood, 32
Straight little fingers means he is honest and has a lot of heart. He's a team player and very hands on. He also has a peacock's eye on left ring finger meaning his life purpose is of a pioneer and innovator, though he will often feel that people don't understand him due to his unusual approach. He's already had a lot of expansion in his career at 27 years and this is set to leap forward again in three year's time.
Susan Ma, 21
Susan's small hands show she is dynamic and impatient. Her varied fate line indicates lots of change and varied experience in her working life throughout her 20s. Tented arches on some of the fingerprints show she knows her stuff and will become very business-savvy, but an area of growth will be getting herself heard and taken seriously. Composite whorls on the fingerprints mean she has an ability to see all sides of an issue (similar to lawyers, journalists and counsellors) but this same quality can lead to indecision.
Helen Milligan, 30
A whorl on the fingerprint of the right thumb and loops on the fingers means that it is Helen's destiny to be successful and the foundation for this success is her people skills. She has already gained a huge amount of experience in her 20s (shown by Ladder of Success / Pagoda on right hand), which began at 23 years (branching of fate line). The new fate lines at 30 years show that, regardless of her runner up position in this series of The Apprentice, Helen's career has a fresh start and she is beginning a very rewarding cycle of learning. Her involvement in this successful TV series will set the tone for her career in the rest of her 30s.

In palmistry, the head line (running across hand from thumb joint, in between the heart and the life line) represents a person's thought processes and the quality of their mental energy.
For example, the head line may indicate whether a person has a rational/logical or creative/intuitive approach to life, or whether they make quick decisions or like to take time ponder and reflect. If the head line is islanded or chained the person's thinking can be clouded, or there can be a lack of confidence or insecurity for a period of time. Things to consider:Long - Reasoning powers, ability to process abstract ideas,
philosophical, (scientist, writer, researcher).
Short - Faster decisions (boxer, fighter pilot, stock market trader), acts then thinks.
Straight - Rational, logical (mathematician, academic).
Curved downwards (see right) - creative, imaginative, sees world in a symbolic way, but more prone to moods, fleeting melancholy or depression. Commonly found on people working in the creative industries, but also people from other walks of life who may not classify themselves as exclusively creative (e.g. a full-time mother who enjoys flower arranging, a landscape gardener who dislikes art).
A curved head line that droops into the Luna mount indicates someone who is at home in the world of intuition, dreams, archetypes, colour, imagination and may have creative talent or at least 'a good eye'.
As with all aspects of palm reading, individual markings must be read in the context of the whole hand and any 'balancing' features taken into account.

I spied these beautiful original tea cups and matching saucer sets at the end shop in Camden Passage, Islington, London. Though cups that have a clear white interior are ideal for tea leaf reading these beauties would be make tea drinking a very refined and dainty experience indeed.

My recent palmistry workshops in London have been very enjoyable (- fortunately for both students and teacher!). The feedback I have had from students is encouraging too (to read it, click here) so I have added extra dates. If you wish to join the 5th June Level 1 workshop, please hurry as there are only two places left. Read more on both Levels in blog below or click the 'Learn Palmistry' links in 'Categories' on right...

Today's palmistry workshop built on the foundations of Level 1 by introducing unusual markings, minor lines and finger print meanings, as well as theories and concepts that try to explain how palmistry works. We also looked at the pioneering work of Dr Richard Unger who has devised a system of finger print analysis that can be used to assess the 'Soul's Agenda' (life purpose, challenges and lessons). For more information, click.
The first of my regular Learn Palmistry workshops in London. I had the aim of helping students get to grips with palm reading basics in a day. I must say I enjoyed teaching and the students seemed to find the day rewarding, which was my intention. ...Phew!

Thrilled to see my illustrations exhibited in a public place after spending so much time perfecting them indoors (doing 'solitary time'). My Private View was very quiet, however I sold a piece - and got some encouraging comments, so I was satisfied.
The art exhibition runs until mid-February 2010.

As this was the last 'Lost Art of Palmistry' Meet Up of 2009, about 10 of us enjoyed a palmistry quiz with prizes, Q&A and mingling in the downstairs bar of the Old China Hand after the talk. (Old China Hand, 8 Tysoe Street, London EC1R 4RQ. Map). Everyone who attended received a complementary gift. It was a pleasant end to a year of monthly (or weekly) LAP MeetUps... I have finally joined the 21st Century with my own Facebook page, but I've got no friends! LOL (- as they say).
If we've met* you can add me as a friend on Facebook (add), or simply share information about palm readings, palmistry events and workshops.
* Being of another era I still feel uneasy calling people friends if we haven't met or at least held a conversation, so I'm aiming to set up another Facebook page soon where the people I don't know can 'like' me. (Makes a lot of sense, don't you think?)

The modern psychic has finally left the profession's 'end of the pier' image behind and often comes armed with a range of psychic tools gained from years of training. However, psychic readings are now just as likely to be purchased as a 'treat', similar to a day at the spa, a new hair cut or a massage, as for more serious matters.
I really enjoyed palm reading at this advertising industry awards ceremony at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, particularly as I met the delightful psychic Jane Shaw Cunningham.
Tonight: Ethics - guidelines for appropriate and acceptable palmistry practice
A talk by professional palm reader Amber Garnet
On the first Wednesday of every month in 2009 enjoy an hour long introduction to the wonders of palmistry, plus 10 taster palm readings. Advance booking required for palm readings.
Old China hand, 8 Tysoe Street, London EC1R 4RQ.
Tonight's topic: Time lines - how to time incidents on the lines
A gave a free talk and short palm readings to provide people with a taste of what palmistry can offer. The talk covered a different area of palmistry each month, sometimes fairly in depth but always with a light-hearted approach. Past subjects include:
1) History and basics of hand reading (zones, mounts, lines etc)
2) Love and relationships
3) Dermatoglyphics and fingerprints
4) Special Markings
5) Miscellaneous - plus quiz with prizes

August's LAP Meet Up Group Topic: Special markings in the hand
On the first Wednesday of each month LAP Meet-Up Group members have a chance to explore palmistry in a little more depth. I run these Meet-Ups as a chance for like-minded individuals to gather for a light-hearted and uplifting evening - as well as to learn about this ancient art. The group welcomed new and old members.
"Thank you very much for the in-depth reading - Amber has a kind heart and an insightful mind, and I learnt much more about myself and my directions after the palm reading."
Psychic reading for private client, feedback via online feedback form, July 2009.
"Having a reading with Amber is like spending time with an old friend who knows you very well. It reminds you who you are and puts you back in touch with the real you and helps you remember who you are in a crazy world. Amber is able to put you at ease and is very good at what she does. My favourite part was the palm reading which I found really useful."

"Let me just say that I have never had a reading or met Amber before, but boy was she spot on with the palm reading. Especially me having certain health issues and my personality traits were picked up by her. This is before I had even mentioned them to her! I really enjoyed it and would highly recommended her to anyone and everyone."
"Amber is very nice, understanding and professional. I was a bit nervous at the beginning but soon after I felt at ease. I'm pleased that I went... palm reading, tarot and Reiki - all this took place in my session for 50 minutes and more. Good location and easy to find... I thank you Amber."
Palm reading feedback via online feedback form, June 2009, London.
"Thanks again for the great session! This was something I had always wanted to try, and it was a great experience. I really appreciated you recording the session - by knowing that I could always go back and listen to something in more detail, I was better able to tone down the analytical part of my mind and instead focus on the whole experience of the readings."
Palm reading feedback via online feedback form, June 2009, London.
"It was so nice to meet you the other day. It was fantastic experience to find out something new about myself! Thank you!"
"I found your reading very positive and a great reminder to the potential that I know is inside me (and indeed all of us). Thank you! Wish me luck and you will see me again Amber."
"It's as easy as breathing." I thought, and placed myself down on the mat in a basement gym near Paddington. I felt a little impatient as the Art of Living teachers began to run through stories and anecdotes on spiritual living and good practice, and I felt conscious that I hadn't signed up for a course of motivational speaking. I worried that this week long commitment of 3 hours each evening would perhaps be a waste of time and that my energies might be better spent elsewhere.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankur (- remember him? The sitar player of the Beatles' fame? Nora Jones' dad?) set up the Art of Living in 1985 and it has become one of the fastest growing NGOs in the world with over 20 million people being involved in it's work worldwide. It is run almost entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to "creating peace and fostering human values". It receives money from the United Nations and it's proponants straddle all sectors of society from business people, entertainers and sports stars, to ordinary people like me. My teacher, as I would later find out, had turned down the Indian Cricket team that week so that she could continue to teach our rag-bag class. The Team had specifically requested her prior to their qualifying games at Lords cricket ground; yet she honoured her committment to our development. Okay, I conceded, maybe these people really do walk their talk.
We were taught a distinctive and very intense breathing technique called the Sudarshan Kriya®, which is used - in a different form - in yoga. This technique caused me a lot of pain but the results were noticeable. During the week I got headaches, dizziness and a range of uncommon emotions (anger, sadness) which I felt dated back to certain issues I had at school in my late teens - which I began to project upon my unknowing Art of Living teachers. They persevered with me however and explained this was all part of the process of clearing and healing that the Kriya is renouned for. It certainly seemed to allow issues to surface which would have taken longer than if other therapeutic methods had been used (e.g. counselling).
I came out of the week understanding the power of breath. However, the Art of Living Sudarshan Kriya technique is supposed to be practised for approximately 1/2 hour each morning, preferably at dawn. I experienced the power of this rigorous technique first hand, but I haven't replaced my 10 minutes daily silent sitting meditation. That, followed a nice cup of tea, is a much gentler start to the day - and one I can get used to.
Art of Living courses take place year round, at different locations in the UK and abroad. For more information visit: http://uk.artofliving.org/

I gave a 45 minute palmistry introduction to the Lost Art of Palmistry Meet Up Group. This month's subject was 'Love in the palm of your hand – how to tell if your love will last." Guests also received private 5-10 minute palm readings. We looked at emotional types, heart line (showing how people connect with others and our emotional state throughout our lives), as well as compatibility between the different types.
The Lost Art of Palmistry events ran throughout 2009 at The Old China hand, 8 Tyoe Street, London EC1R 4RQ (- a lovely little oriental inspired bar in a pretty part of Clerkenwell).

I hosted The Lost Art of Palmistry evenings every Wednesday from 1st April throughout 2009 at The Old China Hand, Islington, London. I gave a free 30 minute introduction to the wonders of palmistry plus personal 5 minute palm readings to members of the public who were new to palm reading.
The palmistry events were well attended and enjoyable. It was interesting to meet and be challenged by new Meetup.com members. It was an opportunity for me to sharpen up my palmistry skillss and deal with difficult questions. The meet up group was very mixed; ranging from the curious to those who already have some knowledge.

“We used Amber for two media days to help with the launch of a tea product. Her tea leaf readings were fabulously entertaining and interesting to media, so much so that we had to turn journalists away as there wasn’t enough time in the day to see everyone! We received many positive comments on Amber’s tea leaf reading abilities and I would happily recommend her to others.”

Palm reading for Libby Purves, presenter of BBC Radio 4's Midweek, in BBC Portland Place studios in 1996. The programme had just finished airing after a lively debate. (Fortunately Libby was not phased by my rather alarming hair-style and she gamely agreed to pose for the camera!). I have been a regular BBC Radio 4 Midweek listener ever since.
"Sorry for the late response to your visit - I have been ill with the dreaded flu. This is just a quick note to say thank you from all of us. You were great. All the best..."
